To convert other file formats to the "Game Data Archive" file type, you need software like Ace of Spades or a similar tool.
The .AOS extension is a notorious collision of file formats, most frequently representing Ace of Spades game assets, Unity asset bundles, or Archos firmware updates. The primary friction users encounter is identification: an .AOS file for a game voxel model is completely incompatible with the software designed for an Archos media player update.
For Ace of Spades users, these files typically contain voxel model data or map scripts. The proprietary nature of this legacy game means modern voxel editors often fail to parse the file, requiring conversion to standard formats like KV6 or VOX for use in tools like MagicaVoxel.
Another common variant is the Unity Asset Bundle (often with a 'UnityFS' header). These contain packed game resources like textures, 3D models, and audio. Users typically want to extract these rather than simply open them, converting the internal content to PNG, OBJ, or WAV for use in other engines.
Finally, legacy Archos devices use .AOS (Archos Operating System) files for firmware updates. These are binary system images that are generally useless on a PC unless you are analyzing the firmware structure.
