About ANO files
The .ano extension represents a collision between three distinct technical workflows, creating significant confusion for users. Most commonly, it is a Circuit Analysis Output file generated by Micro-Cap (Micro-Computer Circuit Analysis Program), a formerly paid SPICE simulator that became free before its developer, Spectrum Software, ceased operations in 2019. These files contain simulation data, transient analysis results, or AC/DC sweep plots. Users frequently need to convert these orphaned files to CSV or XLSX for use in modern tools like MATLAB or Excel, or to PDF to archive the visual schematic.
Alternatively, in healthcare environments, an .ano file is a proprietary Medical Image Annotation layer used by Philips iSite/IntelliSpace PACS. These files store arrows, measurements, and text overlays separate from the underlying DCM (DICOM) image. They cannot be opened by standard image viewers; to view them, they must be "burned in" to the image using the original Philips workstation or converted to a standardized DICOM Presentation State. A third, less common use is for Another Redis Desktop Manager, where the file stores Redis connection settings (host, port, auth) in a JSON-like format, allowing developers to share server configurations.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ANO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The ANO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ANO converter.
