About AMA files

The .AMA file extension is most commonly an Amanote Annotated Document used by students and professionals to take notes on course materials. Created by Amanote, this format is actually a disguised ZIP archive that bundles a source PDF file with the user's text, audio, and visual annotations. The major disadvantage of this format is its proprietary lock-in. If you send an .AMA file to a colleague who does not have the Amanote software installed, they cannot open it natively. The best conversion target is a flattened PDF or a standard ZIP archive to extract the original presentation slides. Secondary uses for the .AMA extension include audio loop metadata files used by Adobe Audition and Amadeus Pro. These files only contain text-based metadata like loop points and do not hold actual audio. Lastly, older Trainz series games use .AMA for proprietary game music, which are technically disguised MIDI streams. Because these three formats share the exact same extension but hold completely different types of data, standard online converters frequently fail to process them. They blindly guess the format and often corrupt your files. This file format is difficult to open or convert because often only the original software can properly read or export the specific metadata. If our analysis detects the supported underlying ZIP or MIDI embedded format, viewing or extracting your data may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your AMA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted VPB, NPZ, 7 and APA files.
