About ADML files

The .adml file is a language-specific Administrative Template file used by Microsoft Windows Group Policy. It contains the localized text strings (like English, Spanish, or French) that correspond to the policy settings defined in a companion admx file. Under the hood, these files use an XML structure, encoded in UTF-16 or UTF-8. Administrators primarily interact with these files using the Local Group Policy Editor on Windows. They are standard in Windows Server and enterprise-level desktop versions. Working directly with .adml files is frustrating if you are not actively using the Group Policy Editor. They are deeply nested XML files, making them hard to read in basic text editors. Furthermore, without the matching admx file, the text strings lack context. Sharing policy configurations with non-technical staff or compliance auditors requires you to extract the data first. To make the data readable for review or archiving, convert the .adml file. For code review, convert to standard XML or JSON. For documentation or auditing purposes, convert to TXT or PDF. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ADML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ADMX, ADM and GPF files.
