About A7P files

The .A7P file is an Authorware 7 Project file created by Adobe Authorware, a discontinued flowchart-based authoring tool used for building interactive e-learning courses. This file holds the uncompiled course structure, including interactive logic, flowcharts, navigation controls, and references to multimedia assets like audio, video, and raster graphics.

Adobe Systems officially discontinued Authorware in 2007. Today, the .A7P format is severely obsolete and introduces major workflow disadvantages. The files are strictly proprietary and cannot be opened by modern web browsers, media players, or standard document editors. Furthermore, the original Authorware software requires an outdated 32-bit operating system, making it nearly impossible to run on modern machines without setting up a virtual machine.

Standard online converters fail to process .A7P files because there is no open specification for its complex binary project structure. Because of this, you cannot simply convert an .A7P file directly into a modern e-learning format like HTML5 or a modern project file for Adobe Captivate. Usually, the goal is to extract the underlying media (like JPG or PNG images) or plain text so you can rebuild the course from scratch in a newer tool.

This format is notoriously difficult to open or convert, and often only the original software can properly export the data. Our platform will inspect the raw hexadecimal data of the .A7P file and can often extract readable embedded text strings or packaged media files, giving you a pragmatic way to salvage your old content.

Convert.Guru analyzes your A7P file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
