About 5XS files

The .5XS file is a Setlist file created by Line 6 POD HD500X Edit, a program used to manage tone settings for the Line 6 POD HD500X guitar multi-effects processor. It acts as a container that stores multiple individual guitar presets in a single bundle, allowing musicians to load an entire gig's worth of sounds onto their hardware at once.

The main disadvantage of the .5XS format is its strict hardware lock-in. It is a highly proprietary file format that requires both the specific Line 6 software and the physical POD HD500X pedal connected via USB to function properly. You cannot open these files in a web browser or a standard text editor. Furthermore, if a user upgrades to newer gear, like the Line 6 Helix, these files are largely incompatible, forcing players to manually recreate their tones from scratch.

Musicians usually want to convert .5XS files into individual 5XE preset files to share a single sound online. They may also look to convert the data into TXT or XML to simply read the amplifier and effect parameters for reference.

Because this is a closed, proprietary hardware data format, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original Line 6 software can properly read or export the DSP patch data. If our analysis detects supported embedded data, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your 5XS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
