About 0XE files
A .0XE file is a neutralized, quarantined malware file created by F-Secure antivirus software. When the security software detects a malicious EXE file, it alters the file extension to .0XE to prevent the Windows operating system from accidentally running the infected code.
The primary disadvantage of this file is that it contains an active security threat. It is not meant to be opened, and doing so on a normal computer can compromise your system. Standard online document or image converters will completely fail to process it because the file contains compiled executable code, not media or text. Furthermore, the file is intentionally broken by design.
To analyze the file, security professionals convert or rename .0XE targets back to EXE strictly inside a secure, isolated sandbox or virtual machine. You might also want to compress it into a password-protected ZIP file for safe transport to security researchers.
This format is difficult to open safely. Standard systems block it by default. We can safely inspect the internal headers or extract plain text strings without executing the malicious payload, allowing you to view the underlying structure safely.
Convert.Guru analyzes your 0XE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The 0XE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our 0XE converter.
