About ZS9 files

A .ZS9 file is a saved state file created by the ZSNES Super Nintendo (SNES) emulator. It stores the exact state of the emulated console RAM, CPU, and audio registers at a specific moment. Gamers use these files to save their progress in slot 9. The main disadvantage of the .ZS9 format is its strict dependency on the emulator engine. It is a proprietary memory dump specific to the ZSNES architecture. It is not a standard in-game battery save like an SRM file. This means .ZS9 files are entirely incompatible with modern emulators like RetroArch or Snes9x. They also frequently break if you upgrade to a newer version of ZSNES. Because a .ZS9 file is a raw memory snapshot of a simulated hardware environment, standard online converters fail to process it. You cannot convert a save state into video or images. This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ZS9 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SMC, ZST and CHT files.
