About ZOR files
A .zor file typically serves one of two distinct, unconnected purposes, causing significant confusion for users.
1. I Expect You To Die Save File (Most Common)
For most modern users, this is a Game Progress File generated by the popular VR puzzle game I Expect You To Die. Developed by Schell Games, this file (often named IEYTDProgress.zor) stores your campaign completion data, unlocked souvenirs, and speed-run times.
The Problem: These files are often hidden deep in system directories (e.g., AppData/LocalLow on Windows or /Android/data on Quest). They are proprietary NET serialized data or obfuscated text, meaning you cannot simply double-click to "open" them in Microsoft Word or a standard image viewer. Players frequently look to "convert" these files to transfer progress between platforms (e.g., moving a save from Oculus Quest to SteamVR) or to edit values (unlocking levels).
The Solution:
For Editing: These files can sometimes be parsed by online save editors or hex editors to modify values. Convert them to JSON or TXT (using specific save editor tools) to view the human-readable structure, then convert back to .ZOR to restore them to the game folder.
For Transfer: You do not need to convert the file format itself; you simply need to move the .zor file to the correct directory on the target device.
2. ZoneAlarm Mailsafe Quarantine (Legacy)
If you received this file via email, it is likely a "safety locked" attachment created by ZoneAlarm firewall software. The software automatically renames potentially dangerous executables (like EXE, BAT, or VBS) to .ZOR to prevent accidental execution.
The Solution: There is no file conversion required. To restore the file, verify the sender is safe, then Right-Click > Rename the file, deleting the .zor extension to reveal the original format (e.g., changing image.jpg.zor back to image.jpg).

The ZOR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZOR converter.
