About ZMA files
The .zma file format is a specialized plain text file used by audio engineers to store acoustic impedance data. It typically records three key data columns: frequency in Hertz, electrical impedance magnitude in Ohms, and phase angle in degrees. These files are essential for loudspeaker crossover design and are handled by acoustic simulation software like VituixCAD or WinISD. The primary disadvantage of the .zma format is its obscure extension. Even though it contains basic text, operating systems like Windows or macOS do not recognize it. When a user double-clicks the file, the computer fails to open it, causing unnecessary frustration. Sharing these files with non-engineers or clients is difficult because they cannot view the data without specialized audio software. To solve this, converting .zma to CSV, TXT, or XLSX is the best workaround. This allows you to easily plot the impedance graphs in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Since the underlying structure is simple text, viewing and conversion are fast, safe, and lossless.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZMA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ZMA file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use VituixCAD or similar software from the "Loudspeaker Impedance Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to ZMA, try VituixCAD or another comparable tool in the "Loudspeaker Impedance Data Storage" category.
The ZMA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZMA converter.
