Under the hood, a .zm9 file is entirely identical to a standard ZIP archive file. ZoneAlarm automatically intercepts potentially dangerous email attachments and renames their file extensions to prevent users from accidentally executing malware or viruses. The primary disadvantage of this format is that it is intentionally broken; operating systems cannot recognize it, and double-clicking the file will result in an error.
Because of this artificial renaming, users often struggle to open the file when they genuinely need the contents. The only target format you need for conversion is ZIP. Once converted or renamed back to ZIP, the file can be extracted using standard archive utilities like WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR.
Standard online converters usually fail to process .zm9 files because it is a deliberately blocked and obscure extension. Our system can easily detect the underlying ZIP structure, allowing you to inspect the internal contents safely before you decide to extract potentially dangerous data to your hard drive.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZM9 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ZM9 file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use ZoneAlarm or similar software from the "Quarantined Email Attachment Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to ZM9, try ZoneAlarm or another comparable tool in the "Quarantined Email Attachment Archive" category.
The ZM9 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZM9 converter.
