A .zm9 file is a quarantined email attachment archive generated by ZoneAlarm Mailsafe, a security product developed by Check Point Software Technologies.
Under the hood, a .zm9 file is entirely identical to a standard ZIP archive file. ZoneAlarm automatically intercepts potentially dangerous email attachments and renames their file extensions to prevent users from accidentally executing malware or viruses. The primary disadvantage of this format is that it is intentionally broken; operating systems cannot recognize it, and double-clicking the file will result in an error.
Because of this artificial renaming, users often struggle to open the file when they genuinely need the contents. The only target format you need for conversion is ZIP. Once converted or renamed back to ZIP, the file can be extracted using standard archive utilities like WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR.
