About ZDS files

.ZDS files primarily function as Smart relay program projects created with Schneider Electric Zelio Soft. In this context, they store the logic, layout, and configuration for automated industrial relays. Secondary applications include save state screenshots for the ZSNES emulator, game saves for GZDoom, and label layouts for Avery DesignPro. The main disadvantage of the .ZDS format is severe software lock-in. A Zelio Soft project requires the exact proprietary engineering software to execute or edit the logic, making the file completely inaccessible to users without a license. Similarly, GZDoom game saves are strictly bound to specific game engine versions and break easily after updates. Because these are highly proprietary formats, standard online converters fail to process the specialized logic data. However, the Zelio Soft .ZDS file is actually a standard ZIP archive under the hood, and the ZSNES .ZDS file is a raw PNG image. This means the best conversion targets are ZIP for data extraction and PNG for emulator images.
