About YPS files

The .yps file is a proprietary data file generated by the discontinued Yahoo! Messenger. It primarily stored user profiles, configuration settings, or localized application data directly on the user's hard drive. Originally, these files were managed exclusively by the official Yahoo! Messenger desktop client. Today, the main disadvantage of the .yps format is severe obsolescence. Because Yahoo! completely shut down the messenger service in 2018, the original software is dead, unavailable, and unsupported on modern operating systems.
