Extract text from VISE project files (XVCT)

To convert other file formats to the "XML Project File" file type, you need software like Installer VISE or a similar tool.
The .xvct file is a VISE XML Project File used to build software installation packages. It contains configuration settings, directory paths, script logic, and registry keys required to deploy an application. These files were exclusively managed by Installer VISE, a legacy software installation builder created by MindVision Software. Today, users need to extract data from .xvct files when migrating old software projects to modern installer frameworks. The main disadvantage of the .xvct format is its obsolescence. MindVision Software is defunct, making it virtually impossible to run Installer VISE natively on modern operating systems. Furthermore, the XML schema used inside the file is proprietary to MindVision.
The best target formats for a .xvct file are TXT, XML, or PDF. Converting to these formats allows developers to read the installation logic and manually rewrite it for modern tools like WiX or Advanced Installer. Direct conversion to executable installers like MSI or EXE is not possible without completely rebuilding the project.
This file format is difficult to open or convert because standard online converters do not recognize the legacy extension. Often, only the original software can properly compile the project.
