About XQ files

An .XQ file contains source code written in XQuery, a functional programming language designed to query and manipulate collections of XML data. Non-technical users cannot easily read or execute it because it requires an active database connection and an XQuery processor like Saxon or BaseX to run. If you need to share the code itself, you should convert .XQ to TXT or PDF to ensure the formatting is preserved across all devices. If you actually need the data the query produces, you must execute the script and export the output as XML, JSON, or CSV.
