About XPLL files

The .XPLL file is a proprietary data format created by Pull-Planner, specialized engineering software developed by American Polywater. Engineers and contractors use these files to store complex calculations regarding cable pulling tension, sidewall bearing pressure, and conduit bend analysis during underground cable installations.

Because this format is highly specialized and proprietary, it comes with severe limitations for sharing. You cannot open an .XPLL file with standard text editors, spreadsheets, or web browsers. If you send this file to a client, project manager, or field worker who does not have an active Pull-Planner license, they will be completely unable to view the installation plan or verify the safety calculations.

To overcome this, users typically need to convert these files into universal formats like PDF for reporting, or CSV and XLSX for tabular data analysis. However, standard online conversion tools fail to process .XPLL files because the format is closed and undocumented. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the complex engineering data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your XPLL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The XPLL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XPLL converter.
