About WVC files

The .wvc file is a WavPack Correction file. It is created when the WavPack audio compressor is used in its unique 'hybrid' mode. In this mode, WavPack splits a single audio track into a standalone, playable lossy file (wv) and a supplementary correction file (.wvc). When a media player or decoder processes both files together, they perfectly reconstruct the original lossless audio data. You can open and play these pairs using desktop audio software like foobar2000 or VLC media player.

The primary disadvantage of the .wvc format is that it is completely useless by itself. You must always store the matching wv file in the exact same directory with the exact same file name. Managing two separate files for a single audio track is highly annoying, error-prone, and can result in permanent quality loss if the correction file is accidentally deleted. Furthermore, native support for WavPack hybrid playback is rare. Most car stereos, smartphones, standard media players, and web browsers cannot read .wvc files.

To solve these playback and management issues, you should convert the hybrid pair into a single, widely supported audio format. For archiving, editing, or high-fidelity listening, convert to FLAC or WAV to keep the lossless quality completely intact. For web distribution or mobile listening, convert to MP3 or AAC. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software.
