About WOA files

WebObjects Application (.WOA) files are not standard files - they are actually application wrappers (or directories) created by Apple WebObjects. They contain all the resources needed to run a server-side enterprise web application, including JAVA source code, HTML templates, component directories (.WO), and data bindings (.WOD). Originally developed by NeXT and later acquired by Apple, WebObjects was used to build massive enterprise sites. Converting a .WOA file is functionally impossible in the traditional sense because it is an entire software application structure, not a flat document. The disadvantage of dealing with .WOA files today is that WebObjects is an obsolete framework. It requires legacy development environments like WebObjects Builder or Apple's older Project Builder to properly open and compile the projects. If you stumble upon one on a modern Windows or Mac system, it is difficult to explore without specialized tools because operating systems handle these packages differently. For most users, the goal is not to 'convert' the application, but to extract its source code contents. The best target formats are standard text files like HTML, JAVA, or plain text, which can be recovered from inside the wrapper.
