Extract text from WLT files

A .wlt file usually represents one of three completely different formats, creating significant confusion for users trying to open one.
Most commonly, it is an eWallet Data File created by Ilium Software eWallet. These files store highly sensitive passwords and credit card info in an encrypted container. The real problem here is proprietary lock-in; you cannot simply double-click these files to view them in Excel or a text editor. To migrate to a modern manager like 1Password or Bitwarden, you typically need to use the original software to export data to CSV or TXT formats first.
Secondly, it may be a NEM Nano Wallet backup. These are critical cryptocurrency keys. Users often struggle because these files are strictly for backup restoration and are not "readable" documents. Converting these usually involves importing them back into the NEM Wallet to recover access to funds.
Thirdly, developers using the Unity engine encounter .wlt files as Window Layouts. These save your specific workspace configuration (docked windows, panel sizes). They are not media files and cannot be converted to images or documents, though they can be shared between projects to standardize workflows.
Note for Dashcam Users: If your file comes from a Wolfbox device, it is a locked video container. These are notorious for being unplayable in standard players like VLC. You will need to convert the stream to MP4 or MOV to view the footage or submit it for insurance claims.
