A .WHF file is a specialized 3D CAD document used exclusively by Wing Helper, a parametric design tool used by hobbyists to build RC (Radio Control) airplanes. These files store precise numerical parameters that generate 3D visual geometry for wings, ribs, spars, and fuselages.
Users typically need to convert .WHF files to standard manufacturing formats like DXF for CNC laser cutting, SCAD for 3D printing, or PDF for 2D paper blueprints. However, the .WHF format is strictly proprietary. It acts as a closed system. You cannot natively import a .WHF file into mainstream CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Worse, Wing Helper imposes a strict DRM policy. After a brief one-week trial, the software intentionally disables all export capabilities (including DXF, PDF, and NC/NGC). This leaves users completely locked out of their own manufacturing data.
When converting, the ideal target format is DXF for 2D profile cutting or SCAD for 3D mesh generation. Note that converting out of the .WHF format flattens the model, stripping away the parametric variables and leaving only fixed geometry.
