About WDA files
The .wda extension is primarily associated with Geophysical Resistivity Data generated by WGMD software or Schlumberger Well Data Acquisition systems. These files store raw sensor readings used in groundwater detection and mineral exploration, often captured by WDA-1 series instruments. A secondary but significant use is as a Secure Document Container created by BlackBerry Workspaces (formerly WatchDox), which wraps files in DRM protection for secure enterprise sharing. Users commonly have issues with .wda files because they are either proprietary binary datasets unreadable by standard spreadsheet software (Excel) or encrypted documents that require specific authentication agents to open. For scientific data, the best conversion target is CSV or XLSX to enable analysis in Microsoft Excel or MATLAB. For secure documents, the goal is often to revert the file to its original format (like PDF or DOCX) by removing the wrapper, provided the user has the necessary export permissions. A third, less common variant exists within AutoCAD Electrical workflows as a plain text attribute list.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WDA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert WDA file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use BlackBerry Workspaces or similar software from the "Geophysical Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to WDA, try BlackBerry Workspaces or another comparable tool in the "Geophysical Data Storage" category.
The WDA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WDA converter.
