About WCINV files
The .wcinv file is an obsolete connection invitation originally used by the defunct Windows Meeting Space application. It allowed Windows Vista users to join peer-to-peer collaborative sessions to share desktops, applications, or files across a local network or the internet. Created by Microsoft, the software replaced older tools like NetMeeting but was completely abandoned with the release of Windows 7. Today, this format presents major usability challenges. Modern operating systems like Windows 10 or 11 cannot open .wcinv files because the required peer-to-peer networking protocols and the application itself no longer exist. It is a closed, proprietary format. Standard online converters fail to process it because it contains highly specific network routing data, rather than standard document or media content. You cannot directly convert this into a modern meeting link for tools like Microsoft Teams or Zoom. However, extracting the raw connection data to TXT or XML is often useful for digital archiving or forensic recovery. If our analysis detects a supported underlying text structure, viewing the raw connection parameters or embedded session data may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WCINV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The WCINV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WCINV converter.
