About VSK files
The .VSK extension is primarily associated with Visual Studio Keybinding schemes, used by Microsoft Visual Studio to save and share custom keyboard shortcut configurations. While these files are formatted in standard XML, their structure is proprietary to the IDE, meaning they are not immediately useful outside of the Visual Studio environment. Users often struggle when trying to view these settings on a machine without the IDE installed or when attempting to migrate preferences between different versions of the software. To make the data human-readable without the overhead of installing Visual Studio, converting the file to standard XML or a plain TXT file allows for easy auditing of the shortcuts.
A significant number of .VSK files are instead Kinematic Subject Models generated by Vicon Nexus. These files define the skeletal structure and marker placement for motion capture subjects. The main challenge here is the strict dependency on the Vicon ecosystem; these files are useless without the specific hardware and software suite used to capture the data. For sharing or documentation purposes, users often need to convert the visual representation of these models to PDF or export the underlying data to more interoperable formats like C3D or FBX for use in 3D animation software like Blender or Autodesk Maya, though direct conversion usually requires the original Vicon software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VSK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert VSK file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Microsoft Visual Studio or similar software from the "IDE Keyboard Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to VSK, try Microsoft Visual Studio or another comparable tool in the "IDE Keyboard Configuration" category.
The VSK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VSK converter.
