About VPH files
A .vph file stores custom configuration presets for the virtualPhotographer image editing plugin created by OptikVerve Labs. The plugin was heavily used as an add-on for Adobe Photoshop, Corel PaintShop Pro, and other image editors that support 8BF plugins.
Users often attempt to open or convert .vph files expecting them to be photographs. This is a misconception caused by the software's name. A .vph file contains zero image data. It only holds proprietary numerical parameters for photographic effects, such as film grain, contrast, color tint, and vignette intensity.
This format is notoriously difficult to use today. The virtualPhotographer plugin is a legacy 32-bit software that is unsupported on modern 64-bit operating systems without specialized bridging tools. Because it is a closed, proprietary settings format, standard online converters will fail to process it into images.
Targeting a conversion to image formats like JPG or PNG is impossible. The best approach is to target text-based formats like TXT, XML, or JSON to document the preset values. If our analysis detects readable data, you can recover your filter parameters even if the original software no longer runs on your machine.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VPH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The VPH Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VPH converter.
