About VPDOC files

A .VPDOC file is a VoodooPad Document created by VoodooPad, a personal wiki application for macOS now maintained by Primate Labs. It functions as an offline, interconnected digital notebook, allowing users to build a network of notes containing rich text, images, and embedded files. The software relies heavily on Mac-specific frameworks to render these notes.

The biggest disadvantage of the .vpdoc format is its strict platform dependency. It is not actually a single file; it is a macOS "package" - essentially a hidden folder. If you transfer a .vpdoc file to a Windows PC or an Android device, the single-file illusion breaks. Your device will display a messy folder containing an internal SQLite database, cryptic configuration files, and scattered RTFD subfolders. Because it relies on this fragmented package architecture, standard online converters completely fail to process it, leaving your notes locked inside the Apple ecosystem.

To reliably share your wiki or access it on other platforms, you must convert the notes to universal formats like PDF, HTML, or standard TXT. Exporting to HTML is highly recommended as it preserves the crucial interlinked wiki structure, whereas a PDF export flattens the wiki into a static, linear document.

Because this is a complex, proprietary package format, standard file converters cannot upload or read the structure correctly. Our system can inspect the package contents, parse the internal databases, and often extract your underlying text or embedded images even without the original Mac software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VPDOC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
