A .VEO file is a VERS Encapsulated Object, a specialized XML-based digital preservation format developed by the Public Record Office Victoria. Used primarily by Australian government agencies, this file acts as a distinct "digital envelope" that wraps a standard document (such as a PDF, DOCX, or TIF) along with crucial metadata and digital signatures to ensure long-term authenticity.
