About VBT files

A .VBT file typically functions as a VidBatch Task List created by VidBatch or a Temporary Scan File used by discontinued PC Tools security software like Spyware Doctor or iAntiVirus. In VidBatch, a video processing batch tool, the .VBT file saves the configuration of tasks such as watermarking, resizing, or converting so users can re-run the exact same batch job later. In PC Tools software, the file stores temporary data while actively scanning a hard drive for malware. The main disadvantage of .VBT files is their proprietary nature. A VidBatch task list only contains configuration data, not the actual video data. A temporary scan file from Spyware Doctor is often useless and locked, especially since the software is permanently discontinued. Users often mistake the .VBT video task list for a playable video format and try to convert it to MP4 or AVI, which is impossible. Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded text format, extracting the raw configuration parameters to TXT or XML may still be possible.
