The .USE file extension is most commonly associated with UML OCL specification models created by the UML-based Specification Environment (USE). This academic and developer tool uses the file to store structural models and behavioral constraints written in the Object Constraint Language (OCL). Alternatively, legacy .USE files act as player data or game save files for the classic first-person shooter Unreal Tournament developed by Epic Games.
Working with .USE files presents several challenges. The UML models contain highly specific declarative logic that standard document editors cannot parse or visualize. Without the original USE modeling software, these files are just raw code. The game save variant is even more restricted; it is a proprietary format built exclusively for the Unreal Engine, meaning modifying it often corrupts the player profile entirely.
