Convert UPR to another file type
To convert your UPR file to another format, you need UniOP Designer or other Developer software.
Convert a file to UPR
To convert other file formats to the "HMI Project File" file type, you need software like UniOP Designer or a similar tool.
About UPR files
UniOP Project Files are the primary format associated with the .upr extension, generated by legacy Exor International HMI (Human-Machine Interface) software, specifically the older UniOP Designer. These files contain the complete configuration, screen designs, and logic for industrial touch panels commonly found in factory automation. The major friction point for engineers is that .upr files are tied to older hardware and software ecosystems (often Designer 6) that may no longer be supported on modern Windows operating systems. They are strictly proprietary, meaning you cannot open them in a standard text editor to recover logic or tag databases.
For documentation and archiving, the best approach is converting the project report to PDF. If you are looking to migrate the HMI application to modern hardware, you typically need to import the .upr file into Exor's newer JMobile Studio to convert it to a modern project format.
Alternative Use Case: The .upr extension is also used for Fractal Parameter Files (associated with Ultra Fractal or Fractint). These are small text-based files that store the mathematical formulas and coordinates required to render a fractal image. Since these files are just recipes rather than images, users often need to convert them to JPG or PNG by rendering them, or to TXT to view the raw parameters without specialized software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your UPR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert UPR file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use UniOP Designer or similar software from the "HMI Project Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to UPR, try UniOP Designer or another comparable tool in the "HMI Project Configuration" category.
The UPR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our UPR converter.
