About UHS files

A .UHS file primarily functions as a Universal Hint System file, storing game hints designed to reveal clues gradually without spoiling the entire puzzle. A secondary use is as a Simulation Gauge History data file generated by Ansys Autodyn for recording engineering simulation data over time.

Game hint files are opened using the proprietary UHS Reader. The simulation files require Ansys Autodyn.

Users often need to convert .UHS game hint files because they are locked in a legacy, proprietary format. They require downloading a specific, outdated reader program which is typically incompatible with modern mobile devices or web browsers. Similarly, the simulation data files are locked into expensive engineering software, making data sharing with non-engineers or external teams very difficult.

Converting .UHS hint files to TXT or PDF allows you to read them on any device without installing old software, though the interactive "gradual reveal" feature will be lost. Autodyn data files are best converted to CSV for broad analysis in Microsoft Excel.

.UHS formats are highly proprietary and difficult to open or convert online. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible using convert.guru. We can identify the file format, inspect the internal content, and show underlying text. If our analysis detects a supported embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your UHS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The UHS Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our UHS converter.
