The .uea file is an encrypted file archive used primarily to store sensitive data securely. It is most commonly associated with Universal Encryptor software and Protector Suite QL biometric security software developed by AuthenTec. Users typically encounter this format when recovering backups from legacy enterprise laptops that utilized fingerprint scanners for data protection.
The main disadvantage of the .uea format is its strict, proprietary encryption. These files cannot be opened by standard extraction tools like WinRAR or 7-Zip. They are completely locked down. Users often want to convert them to standard ZIP, RAR, or TAR formats to regain access to their files on modern operating systems.
