About UDCX files

.UDCX files are Universal Data Connection files used primarily by Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft InfoPath. They contain XML-formatted connection strings that allow applications to connect to external databases, web services, or remote data lists.

Because they are created and read by Microsoft enterprise software, they are highly dependent on that specific ecosystem. The major disadvantage of the .UDCX format is its association with retired products like InfoPath. Opening a .UDCX file without the right environment exposes users to raw, unformatted XML that is difficult for non-technical users to read. A common misunderstanding is that these files contain database records; in reality, they only contain the instructions and credentials required to reach the database.

You cannot convert this file to a standard document format like PDF or XLSX and expect to see a populated data table. The best conversion targets are XML or plain TXT to safely inspect the connection strings and authentication settings.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because standard online converters fail to process its specific configuration schema. Often, only the original software can execute the connection. If our analysis detects the underlying XML structure, extracting the raw text and connection details is fast and simple.

Convert.Guru analyzes your UDCX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
