About UCE files
A .uce file is primarily known as an AtGames Legends AddOn package. It is a proprietary container format used to load arcade and console games onto AtGames hardware like the Legends Ultimate (ALU) cabinet and Legends Pinball. Internally, a .uce file is actually a SquashFS image (a compressed read-only file system) that bundles three critical components: the game ROM (e.g., .NES, .ZIP), the emulator core (often a Libretro .so file), and metadata assets like box art and bezels.
Users typically encounter these files when downloading "CoinOpsX" or "AddOnX" packs to expand their arcade cabinet's library. The key problem is that .uce files are designed for the cabinet's Linux-based firmware, meaning they cannot be directly opened or played on a Windows PC or standard emulators like RetroArch without conversion. To "convert" a .uce file for PC use, you must extract its contents using 7-Zip or a script to retrieve the standard ROM file inside. Conversely, users looking to play their own ROMs on an AtGames cabinet must use the AddOn Tool to package them into the .uce format.
Convert.Guru analyzes your UCE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert UCE file to SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT, CMD, SCR, PIF or LNK, you can use AddOn Tool or similar software from the "Retro Game Add-On Package" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to UCE, try AddOn Tool or another comparable tool in the "Retro Game Add-On Package" category.
The UCE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our UCE converter.
