A .TVPI file is a TitanTV Television Listing file originally developed by [Decisionmark] for the TitanTV web-based program guide. It is a small XML-based settings file used to schedule television recordings on local PC tuners. When a user clicks to record an upcoming show online, the website generates this file containing metadata like the channel number, start time, duration, and program name. It is typically processed by PVR (Personal Video Recorder) software such as Hauppauge WinTV, TotalMedia, or EyeTV for Mac.
The biggest disadvantage of the .TVPI format is the immense user confusion it causes. Because it is downloaded to schedule a TV show, users frequently mistake it for an actual video file and attempt to convert it to MP4 or AVI.
