About TTS files
A .TTS file is a ToolBook Translation System file developed by SumTotal Systems for their discontinued ToolBook e-learning authoring software. It primarily stores localized text, user interface elements, and language translation data for digital courses. The main disadvantage of the .TTS format is its extreme obsolescence. It is a closed, proprietary data format tied to software that has been officially discontinued for years. These files cannot be natively opened by modern localization management tools, text editors, or web browsers, often leaving legacy translation data trapped and inaccessible. When recovering this data, the best target formats are universal standards like CSV, XML, TXT, or XLIFF. However, this file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert. Because the binary structure is proprietary and undocumented, standard online converters fail completely. Usually, only the original ToolBook application can properly read or export the exact translation mappings. Our platform will inspect the raw binary data to expose hidden text strings. If our analysis detects standard plain text or embedded formats within the file, partial data recovery and viewing may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TTS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TTS file to MP4, MP3, INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML or ENV, you can use ToolBook or similar software from the "E-learning Localization Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to TTS, try ToolBook or another comparable tool in the "E-learning Localization Data" category.
The TTS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TTS converter.
