Convert TSZ to another file type
To convert TSZ Data files to another format, you need tskit or Topcon or other Data software.
Convert a file to TSZ
To convert other file formats to the "Specialized Data Archive" file type, you need software like tskit or Topcon or a similar tool.
About TSZ files
A .TSZ file typically functions as an ophthalmic measurement data file created by Topcon medical devices, such as specular microscopes or Tono-Pens. Alternatively, it serves as a tree sequence data file used by the tskit Python library to store and analyze large-scale population genetics data. A rare, legacy use case for the .TSZ extension is as a custom visual interface skin for the Trillian instant messaging client.
Opening these files requires highly specific software environments. Medical .TSZ files rely on proprietary diagnostic software like Topcon TSwin. Genetic tree sequences are handled natively by the tskit library via Python scripts. Trillian skins require the Trillian desktop application.
The primary disadvantage of a .TSZ file is its extremely narrow compatibility. Topcon files are closed, proprietary medical records that cannot be natively viewed in web browsers, standard text editors, or general-purpose data tools. This makes sharing diagnostic data with patients or external researchers who lack expensive medical software very difficult. Similarly, while tskit files are highly efficient for geneticists, they are completely unreadable to anyone without a Python programming environment configured to parse them.
Users typically need to convert .TSZ files into universally accessible formats like CSV, JSON, or PDF to share the raw tabular data or visual diagnostic reports. However, direct conversion usually results in the loss of device-specific metadata, proprietary formatting, or the specialized 3D genetic graph structures that the original software relies upon.
Because .TSZ files are either proprietary medical blobs or complex compressed Python archives, standard online converters universally fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as the standard ZIP structure used by tskit - viewing or conversion may still be possible. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TSZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TSZ file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use tskit or Topcon or similar software from the "Medical Measurement / Genetic Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to TSZ, try tskit or Topcon or another comparable tool in the "Medical Measurement / Genetic Data" category.
The TSZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TSZ converter.
