About TS1 files
The .ts1 file is a VirtualBus Texture Description File. It is used exclusively by VirtualBus, a freeware 3D bus simulator. These files do not contain image pixels themselves. Instead, they store mapping data and parameters that tell the game engine how to wrap 2D textures (like bus liveries, interiors, and dashboard panels) around 3D models.
The main disadvantage of the .ts1 format is its highly proprietary nature. It is heavily tied to an old, niche game engine. Because it is a closed configuration file rather than a standard graphic, you cannot open or edit it in standard design software like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP. Modders often face frustration when trying to port VirtualBus models to newer simulators because the mapping data is locked inside this undocumented format.
Converting .ts1 files directly into modern 3D material files (like MTL) is extremely difficult. Standard online converters fail to process it because they lack the specific parsing logic for VirtualBus assets. Often, only the original game engine can properly read the data. Our engine will inspect the file and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects plain-text mapping coordinates or embedded file paths, viewing or partial data recovery may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TS1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The TS1 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TS1 converter.
