About TRUCK files
A .TRUCK file is a vehicle definition file used exclusively by Rigs of Rods, an open-source soft-body physics simulator. It contains plain text data that defines the physical skeleton of a game vehicle, including nodes, beams, wheels, and engine parameters.
Because this format is highly proprietary to a single game engine, it has significant disadvantages for general use. A .TRUCK file does not store actual 3D meshes or textures; it only stores physics coordinate data. This means you cannot open it in standard 3D modeling software like Blender or AutoCAD. It is strictly a backend configuration script. Standard online converters completely fail to process it because they expect a standard media or 3D object format, not a custom node-beam text syntax.
For conversion targets, users generally want to convert .TRUCK files into JBEAM format to port their vehicles into the more modern BeamNG.drive simulator, or rename them to TXT for easier syntax editing in tools like Notepad++.
This file format is difficult to open or convert outside of the modding community. Often only the original game engine can properly read or calculate the data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TRUCK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TRUCK file to EV, TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD or LOCK, you can use Rigs of Rods or similar software from the "Game Vehicle Physics Definition" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to TRUCK, try Rigs of Rods or another comparable tool in the "Game Vehicle Physics Definition" category.
The TRUCK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TRUCK converter.
