To convert other file formats to the "Invoice Template File" file type, you need software like Totals or a similar tool.
A .totalslayout file is a highly proprietary invoice template used by Totals, a macOS billing and invoicing application developed by Kedisoft. This file acts as a structural blueprint. It stores formatting rules, spatial coordinates, margins, font selections, and dynamic variables rather than the static text of a final invoice.
Because it is locked to the macOS ecosystem, sharing a .totalslayout file with clients or opening it on a Windows PC is impossible. Users are forced to maintain a paid Mac software environment just to read or modify these templates. Relying on this format creates severe vendor lock-in. If you switch billing platforms, you generally lose all your template designs.
Ideally, users want to convert these layouts to a PDF for final client delivery or a DOCX to recreate the template in standard word processors. However, standard online converters fail to process .totalslayout files because it is a closed, proprietary format that lacks a universal document structure.
