About TKO files
The .TKO file is primarily an AMX NetLinx Compiled Control System Program or an AMX Software Module. These files store pre-compiled, tokenized code used to execute commands on AMX hardware controllers, which manage complex audio-visual (AV) automation environments. Developers create these files using AMX NetLinx Studio.
The .TKO format presents significant disadvantages for general users. It is a highly proprietary, closed-source format containing machine-level binary data rather than human-readable text. When source code is compiled into a .TKO file, the original logic is obfuscated. This means you cannot open, view, or edit the file in standard text editors. Users without the specific physical AMX hardware or the expensive developer environment face immediate roadblocks when trying to interact with the file.
Converting a compiled .TKO file to other formats like TXT or PDF is extremely difficult because it is not a document or an image. Standard online converters fail to process it because it contains proprietary hardware instructions. Only the original AMX software can properly read, interpret, or deploy this data to a controller. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded text format, viewing or extraction may still be possible. Note that a small percentage (0.9%) of .TKO files are flagged as the Win32/Oficla Trojan, so unknown files should be treated with caution and scanned for malware.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TKO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The TKO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TKO converter.
