Convert a file to TIE
To convert other file formats to the "CrossTie Installer File" file type, you need software like CrossOver or a similar tool.
About TIE files
The .tie file is a CrossTie installer script used by CodeWeavers CrossOver. It contains an XML-based profile that dictates how to configure and install specific Windows software on macOS or Linux environments using the Wine compatibility layer. The primary disadvantage of this format is its strict dependency on proprietary software. You cannot run a .tie file natively without an active CrossOver installation. Furthermore, the file does not contain the actual software payload, only the download links and registry parameters. Standard online converters fail to process .tie files because they are specialized configuration files, not standard media or executables. Because its internal format is XML, the best conversion targets are readable text formats like XML or TXT to inspect or debug the installation scripts. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible using convert.guru. Our engine detects the embedded text format, allowing viewing or conversion despite the proprietary nature of the extension.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TIE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The TIE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TIE converter.
