About TFP files

The .TFP file extension is heavily fragmented and serves multiple unrelated purposes depending on the software that created it. Most commonly, it acts as a hardware configuration profile for SimHub, a binary firmware update for D-Link networking devices, a Tessera Fixture Pack for Brompton Technology LED processors, or a 3D project file for Tekla Field3D. The biggest disadvantage of the .TFP format is this extreme fragmentation. Operating systems cannot reliably guess which application should open the file, causing massive confusion for users. Furthermore, these are highly proprietary or specialized files. If you do not own the specific parent hardware or software, a .TFP file is essentially dead weight and impossible to view natively in your web browser or desktop environment. Depending on the file's origin, you might want to convert SimHub or Tekla files to standard JSON or XML text formats to edit their internal variables manually. However, standard online converters usually fail because they do not understand the varied internal structures of a .TFP file.
