About TE files
A .TE file is primarily a proprietary document created by TextEase, an educational publishing and word-processing software originally developed by Softease Limited (later acquired by Lightbox Education). In secondary use cases, the .TE extension may indicate a TeX typesetting source file or a classic Mac Text-Edit Plus document by Gammadyne LLC. TextEase documents allowed users to place text, images, and multimedia freely on a page, making them highly popular in UK schools during the early 2000s.
Natively opening a TextEase .TE file requires legacy TextEase Studio software. Because the software is obsolete and incompatible with modern 64-bit operating systems, these files are effectively inaccessible today. They utilize a proprietary, closed-source format that standard applications like Microsoft Word or Google Docs cannot interpret. If you try to open one in a basic text editor, you will see unreadable binary data.
To rescue legacy data, conversion is mandatory. For editing text and layouts, convert to DOCX. For immutable archiving and sharing, convert to PDF. For basic data extraction, convert to TXT. Note that some complex vector shapes or proprietary multimedia embeds from the original TextEase document may be lost during the process.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TE file to DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use TextEase or similar software from the "Educational Word Processing Document" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to TE, try TextEase or another comparable tool in the "Educational Word Processing Document" category.
The TE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TE converter.
