About T3001 files

The .t3001 file is an Electronic Design Automation (EDA) project file utilized exclusively by TARGET 3001!, developed by IB Friedrich. Unlike traditional CAD packages that split designs into separate schematic (.sch) and board (.brd) files, the .t3001 format stores schematics, printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, simulation data, and 3D modeling information inside a single proprietary database container. While convenient for internal workflow, the .t3001 format has severe disadvantages regarding interoperability. It is a strictly closed, proprietary format that locks users into the TARGET 3001! ecosystem. Standard file viewers, web browsers, and even competing EDA platforms like KiCad or Altium Designer cannot read the raw binary data inside a .t3001 file without relying on complex, third-party export scripts. If you stop paying for your license, or if a fabrication house does not support the software, your design data becomes inaccessible. To share or manufacture your PCB, you must convert the .t3001 file into industry-standard manufacturing formats. The best conversion targets are .GBR (Gerber RS-274X) for PCB fabrication, .PDF for schematic design reviews, .DXF for mechanical 2D integration, and .STEP for 3D enclosure modeling. Keep in mind that converting to Gerber is a destructive, one-way process; the logical intelligence of the schematic is stripped away, leaving only the physical copper layer geometry. Because this file format is heavily encrypted and difficult to parse, standard online converters fail to process it. However, you can drag and drop your file into convert.guru to see what it is and convert it if supported. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. We analyze the binary structure to show text or internal content, and if our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your T3001 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SPL8, BOT and GER files.

The T3001 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our T3001 converter.
