About STARPAK files

A .starpak file is a proprietary game resource archive used exclusively by Respawn Entertainment for titles like Apex Legends and Titanfall 2. These files store massive streams of game data, primarily focusing on high-resolution textures, audio clips, and 3D mesh data required for seamless in-game environments.

The game engines naturally read these files during gameplay to stream assets on the fly. Because these files are highly specific to Respawn's heavily modified Source Engine, community developers and modders have built specialized extraction tools, such as the open-source Legion extractor, to unpack them for data-mining, fan art, or custom modding.

The .starpak format is incredibly restricted and optimized strictly for the game engine. Users cannot open it with standard archive utilities like WinRAR or 7-Zip. The files are heavily compressed, often reaching tens of gigabytes in size, and sometimes utilize strict internal file structures or encryption. This prevents casual users from accessing game textures or voice lines directly, requiring complicated third-party scripts to access the contents.

Converting a .starpak directly into a standard archive format like ZIP or an audio format like MP3 is impossible without proper extraction. Users typically need to extract the raw contents first. Target formats for these extracted assets include PNG or DDS for 3D textures, and WAV or OGG for audio files.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters completely fail to process it. Often, only specialized, reverse-engineered community tools can properly read or export the underlying data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your STARPAK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RPAK, 20 and CRP files.
