The .SRO file extension serves two distinct, industry-specific purposes, often causing confusion for users without the original software. Its primary role is as a Soccer or Field Hockey roster file for Stat Crew (specifically the The Automated ScoreBook legacy software). These files act as the database for team lineups, storing player names, jersey numbers, and positions in a rigid, proprietary format. Sports Information Directors (SIDs) and broadcasters frequently experience issues here: modern scoring platforms (like PrestoSports or Sidearm Sports) and broadcast overlay systems (like Daktronics) often require XML or CSV data, rendering the raw .SRO file unusable without conversion or legacy software installation.
Secondly, .SRO files are associated with Stimulsoft as report templates or documents. In this context, the file is often a ZIP-compressed container holding report structures, data snapshots, or layouts similar to MRT or MDC files.
