Convert SKBA to another file type
To convert SKBA animations to another format, you need Sketchbook or other Raster Image software.
Convert a file to SKBA
To convert other file formats to the "Flipbook Animation File" file type, you need software like Sketchbook or a similar tool.
About SKBA files
The .SKBA file is a proprietary animation or drawing project file created by Sketchbook, originally developed by Autodesk. Internally, it functions as a ZIP archive containing individual frame layers, timing data, and workspace metadata used for digital flipbook animations.
While Sketchbook is excellent for frame-by-frame drawing, the .SKBA format is highly restrictive. It is a closed, proprietary file type that cannot be opened in standard video players, web browsers, or non-Sketchbook raster graphics editors. Users must have the specific Sketchbook software installed to play back or edit the animation. This limits sharing and collaboration significantly.
To make these animations playable and shareable, you must convert the .SKBA file into standard formats like MP4 for video playback, GIF for web animations, or extract the individual PNG frames for editing in other software like Adobe Photoshop.
Because .SKBA is a proprietary archive format, standard online video converters often fail to process the underlying animation timing and layer structure properly. Usually, only Sketchbook can properly render and export the final video data. Since our analysis detects the supported underlying ZIP structure, we can often unpack the embedded PNG layers, allowing you to view and extract the raw image content even without the original application.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SKBA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SKBA file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Sketchbook or similar software from the "Animation Project Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to SKBA, try Sketchbook or another comparable tool in the "Animation Project Storage" category.
The SKBA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SKBA converter.
