The .SCGC file is a data configuration file utilized by myPM SCG Classic, a project management integration tool developed by Midori Media. This software connects directly with Microsoft Excel to generate project statistics, S-curves, and progress histograms. The file itself stores "SCG definitions" - the specific mapping rules, filtering settings, and layout parameters needed to read an external XLS or XLSX source file and populate a final visual template.
This format is exclusively managed by myPM SCG Classic or its Enterprise variant. It relies entirely on a parallel installation of Microsoft Excel on a Windows operating system to function properly.
Because the .SCGC file is purely a configuration manifest, it contains no actual chart graphics or standalone project data. It only holds the rules on how to process a separate spreadsheet. This is a massive disadvantage for interoperability: it is a highly proprietary, localized format that completely breaks if separated from its original data source document. Standard online converters cannot process it because there is no graphical or textual content to directly convert into a viewable format.
