About SALMA files
A .SALMA file is a user document or image that has been maliciously encrypted by the Salma ransomware. Cybercriminals use malicious software to infiltrate systems and lock valuable data, appending the .SALMA extension to files like .DOCX, .JPG, and .PDF. Victims usually find a ransom note demanding payment for a decryption key. Users frequently search for ways to convert these files back to their original formats to recover their data. The extreme disadvantage of this format is that it relies on military-grade encryption algorithms. Standard online converters fail to process it because the internal file structure is entirely scrambled, meaning there is no recognizable image or text data for a standard conversion tool to read. This is a closed, proprietary format controlled by cybercriminals. Because of this encryption, the format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert. Emphasize that often only the original software, specifically the unique decryption tool provided by the attackers or cybersecurity researchers, can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SALMA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The SALMA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SALMA converter.
