The .sag file format functions primarily as a Game Audio Container or a Sierra Audio Group archive. It was originally utilized by legacy game developers like System Sacom and is heavily associated with classic adventure games currently supported by ScummVM. These files store bundled audio assets, such as music tracks, sound effects, and character voice lines, utilized dynamically during gameplay.
Users frequently need to convert .sag files because they are entirely proprietary and lack native support in modern operating systems. You cannot double-click a .sag file to play it in standard media players like iTunes or VLC.
